The first people who inhabited this region were the Chorotegas Indians coming from Mexico looking for the fulfillment of their prophet's prophecy: The Nic ahuac" place, which in their native language Nahuatl is translated as "Here near by the water" or "Home"that they finally found in between Rivas and San Jorge.
